Overview
Finance Fundamentals is a complimentary training program for Australian not-for-profit executives, managers and stakeholders from non-financial backgrounds. Designed by our CFO Advisory team, the program develops financial fluency from first principles through to practical application: interpreting financial and management reporting; understanding budgets and cash flow; appraising investment decisions; managing working capital and reserves; strengthening sustainability and governance. Content is grounded in the ACNC Act and Governance Standards, the Corporations Act and Australian Accounting Standards including AASB 1058 and AASB 15. The self-paced, online program spans five modules and over 20 sessions, including key finance and accounting concepts, worked examples, case studies and emerging themes: 1. Establishes the foundational language of finance and Australian regulatory framework for not-for-profits and charities. 2. Develops the ability to interrogate financial statements and understand grant income recognition and NFP specific financial ratios. 3. Covers the budgeting and forecasting cycle for grant-dependent organisations. 4. Addresses capital investment appraisal, risk management, reserves policy and financing options. 5. Connects performance management, governance and emerging themes to the participant's own role.
