Overview
Finance Fundamentals is an online training program for Australian public sector executives and managers from non-financial backgrounds. Designed by our CFO Advisory team, it builds financial fluency from first principles through to practical application: analysing financial statements and reporting; navigating budget processes; monitoring budgets and forecasts; appraising business cases; managing working capital; and strengthening financial accountability and governance. Content is grounded, for illustrative purposes, in NSW public sector financial and performance management frameworks and regulation ā including the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework (TPG26-02) and Budget Control Framework (TPG24-35). The self-paced program spans over 20 sessions across five modules, including key finance and accounting concepts, worked examples, case studies and emerging themes: āø ššØšš®š„š š establishes the foundational language of finance and relevant financial and performance management frameworks. āø ššØšš®š„š š develops the ability to read and interrogate agency financial statements, cash flow and performance ratios. āø ššØšš®š„š š covers budget development, monitoring and control, financial forecasting, cost management and efficiency. āø ššØšš®š„š š addresses working capital, risk management, financial controls, business cases, procurement and contract management. āø ššØšš®š„š š connects performance management, governance and financial sustainability to the participant's own role.
