Finance Fundamentals: Public Sector Program

Finance Fundamentals is a complimentary training program for Australian public sector executives and managers from non-finance backgrounds. Designed by our CFO Advisory team, the program builds financial fluency from first principles through to practical application: interpreting financial and management reporting; navigating budget processes; monitoring budgets and forecasts; appraising business cases; managing working capital; and strengthening financial governance and sustainability. As an illustration of public sector finance in action, content is grounded in NSW financial and performance management frameworks, including the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework (TPG26-02), Budget Control Framework (TPG24-35) and Internal Audit and Risk Management Policy (TPP20-08). Core principles transfer across other Australian public sector jurisdictions. The self-paced, online program spans five modules with more than 20 sessions, combining key finance and accounting concepts with worked examples, case studies and emerging themes: 1.
